About the Kenton County Transportation Plan Update

Kenton County requires a transportation system that can accommodate existing demands from continued population and employment growth and incorporate strategies to ensure the highest quality of life and socio-economic conditions, now and into the future, for its residents, businesses, and visitors. This Kenton County Transportation Plan Update will review the changes that have occurred since the last plan update to refresh the list of prioritized project recommendations and direct the County’s multimodal transportation improvement investments for the next 25 years.

This update will consider the mobility of everyone who uses the transportation network whether driving a personal vehicle, taking public transportation, walking, bicycling, delivering packages/freight, or using a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft.

The goals and objectives of this Update will be consistent with those of the 2024 Kenton County Comprehensive Plan.

Goal: To enhance and expand the effectiveness of the transportation system by promoting multimodal approaches that address the needs of all users.

Objectives:

  1. Promote increased roadway connectivity between activity nodes to reduce congestion on major thoroughfares.
  2. Recognize the impact of freight on the transportation network and work towards more efficient movement of freight out of, into, and through the region.
  3. Encourage strategic locations that support transit to enhance efficiency.
  4. Increase the safety, convenience and efficiency of all modes of transportation.
  5. Promote viable transportation options for all demographics.
