The Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) is a program led by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) that empowers communities across the metro Atlanta region to reimagine how they grow. Established in 2000, the LCI program encourages local jurisdictions to conduct such reimagining through planning efforts that seek to promote walkability, enable mixed-use developments, and establish a more interconnected and multimodal transportation network. The LCI program supports local governments and partners in creating more vibrant, accessible, and economically resilient communities via technical assistance and planning grants. These plans help guide public and private investment in ways that align with long-term regional goals and local visions. The current Bells Ferry LCI Plan effort is an update to the original Bells Ferry LCI Plan that was adopted in 2005.
